Checking Lab Challenge 4 (VTP, STP, EtherChannel, NAT, OSPF, HSRP)

April 23rd, 2016 Go to comments

Introduction

You are tasked to check the network configuration of a new company and answer some related questions. This company has four switches and four routers connected as shown in the topology. Because of security reasons, the traceroute commands are disabled on all devices.

Note: You are not allowed to configure anything by company policy. The network is operating correctly so just use various “show” commands to learn how this network works.

This lab is good to help you understand how a simple network with routers and switches work together. But it includes many CCNA topics so you should grasp the concept well before taking this lab challenge.

The topology of this lab is shown below.

dear 9tut great lab , just notice there is a question with 2 answers the same :
which path pc 13 use to reach r9……
    there is twice SW4-SW3-SW1-R9

@johny bravo: Thanks for your detection. We have just fixed that problem!

    dear 9tut,
at the last question it says that there is load-balance between the 2 routers.
how load balance is possible in ospf protocol?
    its only possible in EIGRP

@talor: OSPF still supports load-balancing with equal-cost paths. EIGRP can support unequal cost path load balancing.

Can I download this network topology? because I want to practice with the real.

    regards,

We are sorry but we don’t offer a file to download. You can create one with your networking simulator/emulator.

I think the question about Ospf R9 is incorrect:
a backbone router has all interfaces in area 0, R9 is only an ABR attached to area 0 and other areas.

I apologize for the previous comment : I found 2 different ospf definition from offcial books:
backbone router = Any OSPF router that has at least one interface connected to the backbone area.
Backbone router = A router in one area (the backbone area).
So a backbone router can be a ospf router sitting only in area 0 or an ABR!

there is this question: if shut down interface Lo0 on R7 what will be the hsrp prio on SW2?
is it really part of CCNA? I cannot find any reference to route tracking – not even to interface tracking in the books (100-101 and 200-101)

I am also seeing blank page when clicked on SW, R, H for lab commands. These are html pages. How can I check SW, R and H configuraitons ?

    September 19th, 2016

@Snuque: You were right. We forgot route tracking is not for CCNA. Please ignore that question.
