Aloha,
Come to Hawaii with Autism Today
The
Pacific Autism Center and Autism Today
are teaming up to host a Hawaiian conference,
the 2nd one of its sort to help parents
and educators learn all they can about autism
while having fun! Laura Cook, founder of
the PAC and Karen Simmons, founder of AT
also found they had one shared thing in
common, their love for the beautiful Hawaiian
Islands. They felt by sharing their abilities
to provide the conference more people could
come to Hawaii to frolic in the waves, visit
the pineapple plantations, watch the whales,
and swim with dolphins and at the same time
learn from world-class autism presenters.
The
theme for this February 2005 conference
is "Charting the Waters of
Autism, Oceans of Possibilities"
with keynote speakers Dr. Jeannette McAfee,
Dr. Stephen Shore, Dr. Stephen Edelson and
Dr. Sandra Harris. Topics such as Classroom
Accommodations for Children on the Autism
Spectrum, Introduction to Biological Treatments
in Autism, Social Skills Programs for People
with AS/HFA: A Seriously Fun Approach, Understanding
and Treating Behavior Problems, Making Treatment
Decisions and Determining Effectiveness,
The Impact of Having a Family Member with
an autism spectrum disorder, and Growing
UP with a brother or sister on the autism
spectrum will be covered.

On Friday evening will be a beautiful Sunset
Dinner cruise. You're invited to mingle
with the presenters on this special Friday
evening. Enjoy steak, seafood, entertainment
and a beautiful Hawaiian sunset as well
as the night lights of Waikiki.
