| Dr.
Lori Ernsperger: "Proactive
Strategies for Addressing Problem Behaviors
for Individuals with Autism Spectrum
Disorders" |
Students
with autism spectrum disorders exhibit
a variety of maladaptive behaviors
that interfere with their learning.
Effective teaching strategies for
individuals with ASD requires developing
a systematic program for addressing
problem behaviors. Positive behavior
programs and reinforcement assist
the student in learning new skills
and benefiting from an educational
program. In this workshop, participants
will examine the functions of behavior
and identify proactive strategies
for teaching replacement skills including
social skills training and stress
management techniques. This workshop
will provide practical strategies
for managing problem behaviors in
a variety of settings including the
home and school.
| Here
is a summary of the benefits
you'll receive: |
- Review
the elements of a functional
assessment.
- Develop
and write a behavior intervention
plan.
- Identify
the principles of a proactive
program.
- Review
a variety of replacement skills.
- Analyze
environmental controls.
- Review
social skills curriculum
- Identify
stress management techniques
- Review
reactive programs.
- Develop
a crisis management plan.

| Personal Note from Dr. Lori
Ernsperger: |
If you are like most parents
and school personnel, you
are acutely aware of the
increasing numbers of students
with pervasive developmental
disorders which include autism,
Asperger’s Syndrome, and PDD-NOS. With the increase in prevalence
rates, we are faced with growing concerns over teaching appropriate and functional
skills. We are also focused on reducing problem behaviors that often accompany
this disorder. During this workshop, I will provide dozens of highly practical
ideas for working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum. I will address the
functions of behavior as well as developing appropriate behavior intervention
plans. The strategies and techniques in this workshop are ones that I have used
with students and have learned from outstanding experts across the nation. After
this workshop, you will be better prepared to address behavioral issues and teach
new replacement skills. Just remember, "If we know better, we will do
better."
Warm Regards,
Lori Ernsperger, Ph.D. |

| Dr.
Bill Shaw: "Multifactorial
Causes of Autism" |
There
are very few speakers and presenters
in the autism arena that can, in
laymen’s
terms, address the practical, here
and now, biomedical treatments
that can bring about dramatic improvement
in many autistic individuals. The
purpose of this information is
to clarify, explain, guide and
encourage so that at long last
patients, parents and professionals
can have a real hand in healing
autism.
During this session, Dr. Shaw
will go over the results of the
common metabolic tests for autism
and PDD, such as Organic Acids,
Yeast Culture, Comprehensive Stool
Test, Food Allergies, Heavy Metals,
Metallothionein, and others, and
explain most significant abnormalities.
He will bring up sample test reports
for people with different health
disorders and suggest the most
efficient products of traditional
and natural medicine to treat those
problems. Interactive Question-and-Answer
and discussion session can be included
for all the participating physicians
and professionals to exchange opinions
and experiences.
All
of the therapies Dr. Shaw will
discuss have been successful in
adults with autism and seem especially
useful in adults with severely
disruptive behaviors. Adults affected
by ASD can take a proactive approach
in determining some of the underlying
causes of their disorder and which
therapies could be of the most
benefit to them. Lifelong supervision
and institutionalized housing is
NOT the only option. Take this
opportunity to help mold your future
and maximize your individual potential!
