|  Max
and Friends is a multimedia skill
building program for children with autism
and related disabilities. The innovative
package uses DVDs, story books and music
to present proven therapy-based exercises
in a fun, simple format for children with
special learning needs. Developed by a team
of autism therapists and children's media
professionals, Max and Friends can be used
to help children with special learning needs
develop core skills, but is fun and entertaining
for children of all developmental levels.
The program is simple enough for parents
to use at home, but also can be used by
therapists and teachers.
Max
and Friends is organized into volumes
of related skills. Volume 1 of the series
focuses on Imitation, Commands, and Matching.
Each skill is the focus of a DVD and an
accompanying story book. The package also
includes an instructive manual designed
to train parents in teaching, maintaining
and generalizing the skills as well as a
CD of eighteen children's songs. Future
volumes of Max and Friends will address
more complex cognitive and linguistic skills
and independent subjects such as safety
and social skills. The Collector's Box Set
for Volume 1 was launched in November 2004.
Later this year, Volume 1 will be available
in single units, one each focused on Imitation,
Commands and Matching.
