:: SPEAKERS & TOPICS Autism Through the Lifespan
Dr. Jeff Bradstreet (Intl. Child Development Resource Center)

Dr. Bradstreet, MD, FAAFP is founder of and a treating physician at the International Child Development Resource Center in Florida, adjunct professor of nutritional neuroscience and child development at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, adjunct professor of neurosciences at Stetson University, and a clinical consultant to the University of California Davis MIND Institute.

His 11-year old son, Matthew, is recovering from autism. Dr. Bradstreet is the founder of a special school for children with autism that encompasses biological, behavioral, sensory, auditory and speech therapies into a combined program.

Jed Baker, Ph.D. is the director of the Social Skills Training Project, a private organization serving individuals with autism and social communication problems. He is a behavioral consultant for several New Jersey School systems, and directs the social skills training programs for Millburn Public Schools. He is on the professional advisory board of ASPEN (an information network for parents of children with Asperger Syndrome).

In addition, he writes, lectures, and provides training across the Country on the topic of social skills training for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. He has written numerous articles and published both a best selling manual and social skill picture book on social skills training for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Two additional books will be released this fall on social skills training for the transition from high school to adult life.

Julia Berle (Mother to Recovered Son Baxter)

Julia Berle is mother to Baxter who recovered from autism three years after receiving the diagnosis through a variety of biomedical and traditional therapies. She and Baxter have shared his success story on Good Morning America, Dateline NBC, numerous local California news stations as well as in a variety of printed publications.

Informing parents and caregivers that autism is reversible is of paramount importance to Julia as it can often be an exhaustive battle with seemingly little hope. Julia is a Founding Parent of Generation Rescue (www.generationrescue.org) and Co-coordinator for Los Angeles TACA (www.tacanow.org). Baxter is currently a joyful, social, 7 year old, that attends a typical classroom with no supports or therapy.

Stephen Shore, Ed.D. (Ph.D. Candidate & Person Living w/ Autism)

Combining a rich source of experience from both a personal perspective and as an educator, Stephen Shore has customized this presentation to address characteristics and accommodations for successful education and inclusion of children on the autism spectrum and related disorders.

Particular focus will be placed providing positive, successful experiences at camp, travel and vacations, in community activities as well as the classroom! Developed for parents, educators and other professionals working with children on the autism spectrum, this special workshop is great for summer and preparation for getting a head start to the new school year.

Bill Davis (Author & Safety Advocate Expert)
Bill Davis is our Resident Safety Advocate Expert. He tirelessly and purposefully advocates to foster respect for those with Autism Spectrum Disorders and to ensure their safety in our communities.

His public presentations describe autism and its characteristics before detailing what emergency responders might encounter when they're called to a scene involving an autistic person and how they can best communicate and interact with a person afflicted with autism.

Valerie Paradiz Ph.D. (Director of Education: AS Child Institute)

Dr. Valerie Paradiz is the Director of Education at the NYU Child Study Center's Asperger Institute. She is also the co-founder of the Open Center for Autism (www.oautism.org). Her work developing pioneering educational programs for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) has been featured in the New York Times, Redbook Magazine, Autism Spectrum Quarterly, and on Japanese Public Television.

Dr. Paradiz's memoir, Elijah's Cup: A Family's Journey into the Community and Culture of High-Functioning Autism and Asperger's Syndrome (Jessica Kingsley, 2005) is the compelling story of the author's experiences raising her autistic son, their involvement together in the grassroots self-advocacy community, and her own ultimate diagnosis with Asperger syndrome

Stan Kurtz (B12 Researcher & Father of Recoverd Son)

Stan Kurtz is dad to 5-year-old Ethan, who recovered from an autism diagnosis. Stan recovered himself from ADHD and IBS while he was working on therapies for his son. Stan has presented at the USAAA 2006 International Conference and the DAN! Conference, and he is one of a few parent-researchers to present and attend the DAN! Think Tank and contribute to the DAN! Physician's and Nurse’s training.

Stan innovated the MB12 Nasal Spray therapy, and his research continues to highlight the collective relationship between viruses, fungus, bacteria and mercury in children with autism. He moderates the Yahoo! autism parent group MB12Valtrex, which focuses on antiviral and Nasal Spray MB12 therapies. Stan has published many recovery videos including a groundbreaking video of a 23 year old with ADHD attached to an EEG showing a lack of brainwave synchronicity that recovers in minutes after taking MB12 Nasal Spray. Stan and Dr. Richard Deth, PhD, are working with UCLA on a study of MB12 Nasal Spray for ADHD. Stan also has a grant from the Autism Research Institute to study MB12 Nasal Spray.
