There are no words to express my appreciation
for your creativity. I just know it is going
to help many, many people. I spent two years
as a fellow in child psychiatry, seeing
only autistic children so you can see I
have great compassion for the challenges
in your life
.and how out of those
challenges you are helping others

I
have just been introduced to your website.
Congratulations on a very thorough, balanced
attempt to convey information and practical
support to those affected by this complex
and fascinating condition. If we can be
of any assistance through our contacts or
our schools or various services for adults
I would be delighted to offer this. With
warmest congratulations and best wishes. -

I
have seen a lot of great web sites and a
lot of bad ones. Yours is extremely good.
Naturally, I dont know how often the
content is updated, but I suspect your site
is one of the best in the world.-

Autism
has hit close to home with my brother and
business partner having autistic sons. I
think all families who are affected by autism
will benefit from Reading Little Rainman.
It's a truly remarkable book.

Dear
Karen,
What a wonderful experience I
have had today, to be among people who are
dealing with Autism / Asperger's in many
creative, positive ways.
I feel my spirit being nourished with the
warmth and generosity of those with whom
I spoke with at the conference. This was
such a good learning experience for me,
as my son, John, was assessed with Asperger's
syndrome just this past spring. I now feel
that I will be able to bring this 9-year-old
angel-of-my-heart to a better understanding
of himself and the big world around him.
I am just taking the first baby steps in
learning about Asperger's and being able
to apply different strategies to help John
to cope, and to grow in life.
Catherine Faherty helped answer so many
questions for me through her lively discussion
of Autism /Asperger's. I attended her afternoon
session and came out with a feeling of empowerment.
I truly appreciate your generosity of sponsoring
me for the conference. I would not have
been able to afford to attend otherwise.
It is a great benefit for me, and will continue
to be.
Thank you again, Karen, and I look forward
to Saturday's sessions.- Carmen Leslie

Hello
Karen,
I am now back home in BC. It was a thrill
to meet you at the conference and to have
my book signed by you personally. I promised
I would contact you when I got home. When
I first read Little Rainman I cried as I'm
sure many people have. You touched the hearts
of parents, special ed assistants, and students
with Aspergers.
Little Rainman was the greatest gift our
team recieved. It was a tool we used to tell
our little man about the world of Autism.
The parents were relieved. Little Rainman
gave them a positive way to tell their son
he had Autism. We all cried, laughed, understood,
and felt the emotions through out the book.
It is so valuable as a tool to educate other
classmates, educators, and family members.
We have quoted passages from your book at
workshops , and have ordered copies to have
in our district. Iam thrilled to finally
have my own copy.
I have been a special ed assistant for ten
years now , Iam currently working with a
16 yr,old male with Autism. He is non verbal.
To this day it amases me that some people
think he is uncapable of learning. My student
has many talents and strengths. I feel I
am constantly advocating for him. I will
admit the world of Autism as always intreged
me. I believe there is a way to connect
with every child. Every child has a gift
to offer. My role is to bring out that gift
so others can enjoy it.
Well Karen I will say bye for now, it was
a pleasure to meet you and good luck to
Jonathan in his next football game.He must
be so proud of himself.
I would love to hear back from you, I know
your busy ! if you get a chance.
Thanks again Judy Pacholok !!

"Karen,
your website is terrific. Obviously parenting
your own autistic child created this "One
Stop Shop". I appreciated the extraordinary
commitment of you and your Autism Today
staff to humanize autism and Asperger's
Syndrome resources for the initiated and
non-initiated.
"Your approach makes fact finding easier,
simpler and better as parents struggle to
get the straight scoop with your many user
friendly resources. Your eclectic approach
humanizes the simplistic FAQs and
academic treatises in many places full of
sound and fury but no history of real problem
solving. Your expert panels of autisms
leading lights help to address autisms
unanswerable issues where science and the
scientific method seem to have run into
its own limits" - Steve Brier

"First,
I'd like to start by thanking you for posting
this Austim website, it's one of the best
I've seen.
I live in the Atlanta GA, USA and I have
a son who will turn 5 yrs old on Sept 9.
He is non-verbal, and still not potty-trained.
We have just begun the potty-training process,
and getting the support of his teachers
at school, (they are potty training him
too). He still wears diapers around the
clock, and like many other parents with
autistic children, this is really burning
a hole in our pockets, purchasing diapers
for 5 years already.
I have been searching for any information
regarding a program to help with the cost
of diapers for disabled children past the
age of 3 who are still in diapers all day
due to their disablility. I am not having
any luck at all finding this information.
I noticed on your website, there is information
for an office abroad that has a program
like this. Would anyone happen to know of
a program in the USA like this? I am desperate
for any information and resources you are
able to provide.
Feel free to email me at NYdiva@mindspring.com
anytime

"Karen:
While autism may not sound like a fun subject
or one that has general interest, you made
the half hour move as fast as any--you are
clearly in the top 1 % of all book writers...Yes
the subject is more common than most realize
1 in 166 versus 1 in 10,000 in 1985, but
you made the child in me and I'll bet in
many of out listeners take root--and the
story on toasting the bride made us all
laugh...thanks so much for making it a fun
and educational half hour...I wish it could
have gone on---you made what seems like
a tough subject and one filled with dread
be a great one and one filled with hope.
Thanks, and feel free to reprint any part
of the above --I truly mean you make the
interviewer sound good. Thanks, Dr Mike
Roizen
Ps. I will recommend you to my wife as a
speaker. You are great. "

Karen
You WERE ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL.
Thank you. Donna Gould
