Is a Weighted Belt better than a weighted vest?
"When comparing the Miracle Belt™ to a weighted vest, the belt is far superior! Weighted vests are cumbersome and the weights do not sit evenly which can jeopardize the benefits of the input they are intended to provide. Therapeutically, it makes sense to provide the weight at the center of the trunk, because this is where movement stability and movement patterns come from."

How does the Miracle Belt™ work?
The Miracle Belt™ stimulates the proprioceptive system through nerve receptors that are positioned in the muscles, joints and ligaments around joints. These receptors sense tension and pass this information to the brain where it is processed. The brain responds by signaling the muscles to contract or relax creating improved awareness through a stronger neuro-muscular connection with the brain.
What is Sensory Integration?
Sensory Integration (SI) is an innate neurobiological process which refers to the integration of sensory stimulation, within our environment, by the brain. Our brain allows us, without conscious thought, to take in information from our senses, organize it and make a plan to produce a meaningful response so we may interact within our environment. The senses which are the most obvious are those of taste, touch, sight, hearing, and smell. The hidden senses are those of movement (vestibular or inner ear) and of body position in space (proprioception). These hidden senses are the regulators of our nervous system and help build the foundation for purposeful movement.
How long will it take to see Results?
Most children will experience immediate and dramatic results while others will experience a gradual increase in awareness over time. If your child is hesitant to wearing the belt we recommend leaving the belt in your child's room for a day or so for them to feel a sense of ownership to the belt.
How do you recommend we introduce the Miracle Belt™ to our child?
The Miracle Belt™ is a highly effective sensory aid! Be confident when you're putting on the belt! Some children need a sense of ownership before they become comfortable with wearing the belt. We recommend you leave the belt in your child's room for a few days so they become familiar with the belt. Some parents call the belt a "Magic Belt" while others have found success calling the belt a "Batman Belt".
Note: Gradually work in the belt to your childs routine and make sure not to use the belt only when your child is acting up or having a meltdown. It's important the belt is not seen as a punishment! If your child is not feeling well this may cause them to be resistant to wearing the belt.
How long should my child wear the belt?
The Miracle Belt™ may be worn from 15 to 30 minutes to all day with breaks for meals, outside play, etc. Your child may prefer to wear the belt over their lap while eating. Watch your child's behavior, they will let you know when they've had enough. The amount of time your child wears the belt may vary from day to day.
Note: Some children may prefer to wear the belt under their clothing.
What materials are used in the Miracle Belt™?
Using the latest in foam technology we have created the most comfortable, safe, and durable line of weighted therapy products for infants and children. The Miracle Belt™ is made of EVA foam for flexibility and stability along with neoprene weight pouches filled with tiny stainless steel balls.
Has the Miracle Belt™ been tested?
Our initial testing was done by occupational and physical therapists at Community Haven for Adults and Children (CHAC) in Sarasota, Florida www.communityhaven.com. The findings of CHAC are consistent with feedback from practical application from occupational therapists, physical therapists, teachers, and parents from all across the country. The weight provided in the belt has been extensively tested by therapists and is the most effective weighted therapy for your child's waist size and weight.
Has the Miracle Belt™ passed all child safety requirements?
Absolutely! The latest advancements in foam manufacturing are incorporated into the design of the Miracle Belt™, along with quality workmanship, ensuring the Miracle Belt™ is one of the safest weighted therapy itmes for infants and children. The Miracle Belt™ passed all child safety requirements under the new Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008.
Why is the Miracle Belt™ more effective than a weighted vest?
There are a number of reasons why a weighted belt is more effective than a weighted vest. During development of the Miracle Belt™ many therapists shared the problems they encountered while using the weighted vest. One occupational therapist told us about how one of her ADHD clients began throwing the weight from the vest because he didn't like the way the weighted vest felt. Due to these types of experiences with the weighted vest our consulting therapists recommended we design the weighted belt with stationary weight. Because the weighted belt is centered around the waist less weight is needed to provide effective proprioceptive feedback for sensory regulation.
So the old mentality of 10% of body weight has been thrown out the window. Not only does less weight work more effectively around the waist but it also elliminates excess body heat and discomfort caused by the weighted vest. The belt is also adjustable which provides extended wear as your child grows. Many therapists have noticed how the weighted vest effects posture, especially with children who are low tone. The weighted belt provides children with a solid base of support creating a stronger core which is the foundation of all movement. The therapeutic weighted belt is clearly the most effective weighted therapy for infants and children with sensory needs.

"The Miracle Belt™ has had an amazing effect on my son! The belt calms him down and allows him to be better focused so he is able to sit and color, play games, etc. without extraneous movement. At seven years old my son asks for his belt because he knows it's helping him. Every child who has Sensory Integration Disorder should have one of these."

"I gave a Miracle Belt™ to my first ADHD client, and I was truly amazed at the instant positive reaction this boy had. He immediately expressed that he felt the weight of the belt helped him calm his body and reduce his hyperactivity. I had him take the belt home for use with his parents, and the next week they all reported that the belt had continued to help him control his activity level. My client said it felt like magic. His parents said he had only had to use the belt a few times, and that the results had lasted longer each time."

"As a primary care pediatrician I have been truly impressed by the therapeutic benefit of the Miracle Belt™. The Miracle Belt™ has assisted several of my patients with proprioceptive deficits as well as those with poor truncal tone to achieve significant milestones such as sitting, walking and climbing steps. I would urge therapists and physicians working with children with these types of special healthcare needs to consider a therapeutic trial with the Miracle Belt."

"During my sessions I've been using the Miracle Belt™ with a 5 year-old girl with the diagnosis of Down syndrome. The belt has helped keep her more focused and on task. She is much calmer and easier to work with when wearing the belt. When I took the belt off of her, she tried to put it back on, indicating to me that the benefit of the belt was apparent to her. I'm very pleased with the Miracle Belt™."

"The Miracle Belt™ is often worn by several of my students for short periods of time to help them calm down and be able to focus on their assigned tasks. Some of the students will go and get the belt themselves when they feel the need for the weight provided by the belt."

"The Miracle Belt™ provides a longer sense of deep pressure at the child's core, which in turn allows for increased attention to fine motor and/or cognitive tasks. I found the Miracle Belt most beneficial with children who were sensory seekers and had to move to function."
